How to Become a Silver Page
A Silver Page is one of the most important volunteer positions in the Silver Knights Alzheimer’s Charity. A Silver Page must foremost be someone who is motivated by the goals of the Silver Knight Organization- to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of our parents and grandparents from suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Every Silver Page will receive training via email or possibly in person if you live in the Phoenix area.
Your main duty when not helping Silver Knights with anything they may neeed is to promote the organization to help it grow in your area. A Silver Page must be willing to donate at least 1 hour per month. You will print off promotional fliers and take them to chess clubs, Alzheimer's associations and any other group that might be willing to help accomplish the goals of The Silver Knights Alzheimer's Prevention Charity.
As a representative of the Silver Knights you will answer questions about the organization and pass on the Promotional Flier which will be emailed to you.
A Silver Page must be willing to submit a report to the Silver Knight National Headquarters once every 3 months by describing on the Silver Page section of our Forum his or her accomplishments. Having previous experience doing promotional work is helpful but not mandatory. If you are interested in helping the Silver Knights by becoming a Silver page please fill out the application below. There is no pay other than the joy of knowing that you have saved the lives of our precious senior citizens and added joy to their lives.
The Duties of a Silver Page
A Silver Knight donates at least 1 hour per month to serving the community by protecting adults and the elderly from Alzheimer’s disease by promoting the Silver Knights Charity. Your commitment is for 1 year. After that time we hope you will renew your Silver Page commitment.
Once your application has been approved you will be given instructions and assignments from the Silver Knights Headquarters. The only financial investment you will need to make is ink and paper for your printer.
Although it is not mandetory we hope you would be willing to purchase one or more of our Silver Knight Customized (with your name and title) Golf Shirt that can be purchased on our website for $30 each plus shipping. This is especially helpful if you are speaking in front of a group of people to let them know that you are officially part of the organization. If you do want some shirts, please contact Coach Patrick at www.thesilverknights.org with your first name, title (Silver Page) and he will email you back when they are ready to purchase on our online store.
In order to present to the public and our students a uniformed program, the documents used in the program may not be changed without written confirmation from The Silver Knights National Headquarters in Scottsdale Arizona. That being said, we are always open to suggestions from our Silver Knights as to improvements to any aspect of the program.
The Vigil (Application form)
Every Silver Page must go through the following "vigil". He or she is
bound by a code of chivalry, as were the Knights of old. Please read
carefully and think before answering.
The Silver Knights’ Code of Chivalry
Defense - The Silver Page is sworn by oath to defend the elderly against the monster called Alzheimer’s.
Joy - Bring happiness to those you serve, for many are going through difficult times.
Generosity - Be generous in so far as your resources allow. Give a little if you only have a little. Give a lot of you have a lot.
Humility - Value first the contributions of others; do not boast of your own accomplishments, let others do this for you.
Courage - Being a Page often means choosing the more difficult path, the personally expensive one.
Truth - Speak always the truth. To lie is to dishonor yourself, and the powers of Good.
Loyalty - Be known for unwavering commitment to the people and ideals you choose to live by.
Faith - A Silver Page must have faith in his beliefs, for faith roots him and gives
hope against the despair that human failings create.
Righteousness -
Seek to emulate everything I have spoken of as sincerely as possible,
not for the reason of personal gain but because it is right.
Courtesy - Treat all, but especially the elderly with kindness and tenderness. Honor them for they richly deserve your respect.
Nobility - Seek
great stature of character by holding to the virtues and duties of a
Silver Page, realizing that though the ideals cannot be reached, the
quality of striving towards them ennobles the spirit, growing the
character from dust towards the heavens.
