Mission:
The mission of The Silver Knights Alzheimer’s Charity is to provide free chess lessons and/or play chess with adults primarily over 40 who live in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals and senior center and other difficult circumstances who may be physically or mentally challenged, to bring a fun distraction and to brighten their day as well as to prevent Alzheimer’s Disease.
About the Organization: Research has shown that learning to play chess can help to reduce the chance of getting Alzheimer’s disease by 60%. It is important for the physically challenged and the elderly to exercise their minds in a fun way while their bodies are healing.
Funding Needs: The Silver Knights cannot possibly exist without the support of the community—foundations, corporation and individuals. The Silver Knights depend on the support of people like you. Your donation of time or money can make a huge difference in the lives of the elderly. |
