When I was growing up we played all kinds of card and board games. The whole family played together but no one knew how to play chess. As an adult, I didn’t know anyone who played so I never learned until I came in contact with the Silver Knights.
I’d always heard “It’s a hard game to learn” and never had much interest. When I found out there was an organization that voluntarily gives their time to teach chess to help prevent Alzheimer’s, I put away the negative thoughts I’d had about it and joined up right away.
They have a method that makes learning the game simple and fun. I’m surprised and delighted at how much I’ve learned and retained. Now I have a new game to add to my list of favorites.
I hope everyone will support the Silver Knights either by giving money or contacting them to teach or play chess with others to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
Sincerely,
Debbie Delawder
